The EMG Series is a favorite with our discriminating customers. This 9-foot 4-piece rod is a medium action taper with blended medium modulus graphite and is available in weights 2-8 with a striking deep green finish and perfectly matched thread wraps., the EMG series effectively covers all of your fishing needs in a moderately priced rod. Cork grips are made from the highest grade cork available and are hand turned for the perfect fit. Reel seats are beautifully appointed with highly figured wood inserts.
New for 2010 - The EMG Switch Rod! The original Spey rod design shot a fly line forward without requiring a back cast. The rods were of an extra-long length, and their innovative flex profiles loaded and unloaded aggressively tapered fly lines. We've addressed this fast growing market segment with an innovative premium rod design. Introducing the EMG Switch Rod, a hybrid of a Spey rod and a single-hander. From salmon and steelhead to stripers and skipjack. Swing those flies with ease or reach the fish along the opposite bank. With one hand or two, the choice is yours. The saltwater model features an ALPS triangular locking reel seat and the freshwater model employs an REC reel seat with highly-figured Cocobolo wood inserts.
Nymphing Models: The EMG Nymphing rods were co-designed with industry-notable Ian Colin James. These are the same rods used by the Canadian Youth Fly Fishing Team in 2009 at the World Fly Fishing Competition hosted in Prague. All three models are 11-feet long, medium/fast action, and have the same high quality components as all EMG Series rods including REC premium reel seat with Cocobolo wood inserts.
All rods feature our proprietary tapers, and a lifetime registered original-owner warranty. Every rod ships with a Great Bay Rod Company branded aluminum rod tube and rod bag. Great Bay Rod Company carefully inspects each rod for fit and finish and performs quality assurance testing on 100% of the products that leave our facility; testing includes, static deflection testing to insure precise guide placement, hand casting of all fly rods, and actual line weight measurement verification.
